Hello Family
Welcome to Day 2 of the 40Days of Christmas. Thank you for staying with us. We are taking a walk through the Bible with a focus on Jesus, the reason for the season.
Still in Genesis, God is heart broken by mankind and He cut a new deal with a man - Abram (later changed to Abraham). The promise was passed on to his son Isaac and His grandson Jacob (later changed to Israel). Israel became the Father of twelve sons.
The sons of Israel, planned to kill one of their brothers out of hatred and jealousy. His name was Joseph.
One day, his brothers saw a clear opporrunity to finally kill him. They grabbed him, took off his clothes and in the process of attempting to execute their evil plan, the brothers saw slave dealers and decided to sell Joseph instead.
Bible speaking now
"Then the brothers killed a young goat and dipped Joseph’s robe in its blood. They sent the beautiful robe to their father with this message: “Look at what we found. Doesn’t this robe belong to your son?” Their father recognized it immediately. “Yes,” he said, “it is my son’s robe. A wild animal must have eaten him. Joseph has clearly been torn to pieces!”
Genesis 37:31-33 NLT
They also buried the evidence. They thought it was over!
Many years later, there was a severe crisis in the Land. There was no food. They tried surviving for two years but it continued. And it was going to be like that for 7 years.
But they heard that there was food in Egypt and Israel sent his sons to go and get food from Egypt.
In a dramatic twist, they met their brother. Joseph was alive and Joseph had become the second ruler of Egypt. Joseph had become the most influntial man. And he was in charge of the food.
The brothers were now at the mercy of the person they had sold out to die without mercy.
But, Joseph had become a transformed person. He received them, forgave them, and even said:
"But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. Joseph said "It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives."
Genesis 45:5 NLT
But this story points to Jesus and Joseph was a type of Jesus
Both Joseph and Jesus were
Different from their brothers,
loved by the father,
spoke the truth boldly,
Were conspired against by people,
betrayed by brother.
Grabbed and beaten for no reason,
Gone too soon.
But Jesus too like Joseph resurrected from the grave. In a transformed and exalted state. Jesus was given a name that is above every name - that at the mention of Jesus - every knee should bow.
By the way - Joseph too was given a new name - lets read of Joseph from the Bible and you will see how it relates to God the Father and Jesus: Bible speaking in Genesis 41:41-46 NLT
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in fine linen clothing and hung a gold chain around his neck. Then he had Joseph ride in the chariot reserved for his second-in-command. And wherever Joseph went, the command was shouted, “Kneel down!” So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt. And Pharaoh said to him, “I am Pharaoh, but no one will lift a hand or foot in the entire land of Egypt without your approval.” Then Pharaoh gave Joseph a new Egyptian name, Zaphenath-paneah. He also gave him a wife, whose name was Asenath. She was the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On. So Joseph took charge of the entire land of Egypt. He was thirty years old when he began serving in the court of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And when Joseph left Pharaoh’s presence, he inspected the entire land of Egypt.
Bible speaking of Jesus death, in 1 Corinthians 2:7-8 NLT" said;
"No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.
Bible was saying all the betrayal, the plotting, conspiracy and opposition was part of the plan.
Then Bible said in Philippians 2:9-11 NLT because of all that:
"Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Christmas symbolises a big win!
I mean it was a win from the very start. Not just for Jesus, but for us.
